Central branding and the portal mentality extend from newspapers going online early and just reproducing (as best as possible) the newspaper online. As the web has solidified its core values as a medium, it has grown apart from the information flow that has been most convenient to Newspapers - the midnight dump. 

There are a lot of rumblings about changing this, but it means adding resources and changing ossified workflows that are proving stubborn, even in the face of our industry&#039;s current decline.

I think there is a real readership/attention gain to be made by pursuing better categorized information released consistently throughout the day.</description>
